Attorney Erica Tennyson

Erica Tennyson is the founder and principal attorney at The Law Office of Erica Tennyson.

Throughout her career, Erica has helped advise businesses and individuals on a variety of legal and business matters. Her law career began in litigation, where she helped clients navigate imminent or existing disputes, either by advocating their interests in court or by finding resolutions through negotiation. With her strong background in dispute resolution, she later came to focus on developing strategies for taking preventative measures to avoid conflicts.

Erica serves as outside general counsel for nascent technology companies, established businesses of all shapes and sizes, and individual entrepreneurs, primarily in the Cambridge and Boston areas. Her goal is to clear obstacles on the way to her clients' many successes. She is an experienced counselor and advocate, and her clients come to think of her as both a crucial guide on the way to getting a new venture off the ground and a valuable member of their business team.

Erica counsels startups, existing businesses, and individuals as they: form a new company; set up their business practice; court and interact with investors; negotiate contracts; hire and manage employees; obtain real estate or commercial space and deal with landlords; mitigate risk; consider how to protect their intellectual property and their users' privacy; file annual reports; and disband their business to retire or pursue other ventures. She has represented companies of all sizes, both with the Law Office of Erica Tennyson and as part of teams tackling very complex legal issues on a high level with a lot at stake. Erica has the benefit of big firm training and experience, but now provides high-value legal representation without the high hourly rates.

Prior to founding The Law Office of Erica Tennyson, Erica was an attorney at two distinguished Boston law firms. She is a member of the bars of Massachusetts, the District of Massachusetts and the First Circuit. She has also been active in the Federal Bar Association (Massachusetts branch) and Boston Bar Association. Erica holds a J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School and a B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Erica's pro bono and volunteer activities include advocating for victims of child abuse and neglect, representing victims of domestic violence, mentoring homeless and displaced children, and tutoring elementary school children.
